{"id":81,"date":"2006-03-02T16:20:57","date_gmt":"2006-03-02T15:20:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/freegw.xs4all.nl\/~basp\/wordpress\/index.php\/2006\/03\/02\/aspnet-20-troubles\/"},"modified":"2010-06-25T20:58:54","modified_gmt":"2010-06-25T19:58:54","slug":"aspnet-20-troubles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"\/~basp\/wordpress\/index.php\/2006\/03\/02\/aspnet-20-troubles\/","title":{"rendered":"ASP.NET"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I ran into a &#8220;server application unavailable&#8221; error and sure enough, upon checking the logs I found something like this: <\/p>\n<pre>Failed to execute the request because the ASP.NET process\r\nidentity does not have read permissions to the global assembly cache. \r\nError: 0x80070005 Access is denied.<\/pre>\n<p>At first I could not find a solution but a second search turned out a link to <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.devstone.com\/aaron\/archive\/2005\/12\/17\/1379.aspx\">Zupancic Perspective<\/a>. The post itself is nice but what really did it for me was the comment by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lightingandceilingfans.com\/\">Robert Burkhall<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nThe simplest way to handle this error is to do the following;<\/p>\n<p>1) Open IIS<br \/>\n2) Select the Folder<br \/>\n3) Right Button Click on the Folder<br \/>\n4) Click Permission Wizard<br \/>\n5) All should be ok\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Which I did, just started up the Permission Wizard and went through it blindly by clicking on &#8220;Next&#8221; repeatedly.
